Question: How do I know A&R Unlimited is a legitimate firm?
Answer: The owners of A&R Unlimited boast an impressive resume in the music industry. From owning and founding The Inside Connection Music Magazine, to holding high level A&R positions at both independent and major record labels, they have combined experience in the music industry totaling over 35 years. As you can see from our list of high profile companies Click here for a list of our Executive Team A&R Unlimited’s quality and reputation can’t be denied.

Question: How is A&R Unlimited different from any other company?
Answer: We are very unique from other companies in many ways. A&R Unlimited is a consulting firm whose focus is to work with the artist to help further their career. We offer opportunities, rather THAN a single service. We are unique in that we GUARANTEE that your music will be heard, reviewed, and screened by the executives you have chosen. A&R Unlimited only works with executives that are CURRENTLY working in the music industry. Finally, while other companies offer limited services, no other company offers ALL of the opportunities that A&R Unlimited offers.

Question: What genres of music are accepted?
Answer: A&R Unlimited accepts ALL genres of music for EVERY opportunity we offer.

Question: Why can't I just send my music to executives or the companies directly?
Answer: While executives are always looking for new music, they are very busy and will not accept any unsolicited material. A&R Unlimited offers a way for musicians to access these executives and have them listen to, review, and critique their music, while giving musicians a real shot at some sort of deal.

Question: How good does my recording have to be in order to take advantage of all of my membership opportunities?
Answer: Of course, whenever you submit music, it should always be the best quality possible. It is advisable to send the best quality material that you have in order to fully benefit from the opportunities that A&R Unlimited offers. However, we will accept any quality as long as the production of the song can clearly be heard. Executives are experienced enough to know what good music is, and can see past any production issues.

Question: What is the member login and password used for?
Answer: Your member login and password are your way to access any information or opportunities that are solely available to A&R Unlimited's members.

Question: Once I submit my information for a listing(s) to the A&R Wanted List, how will I be notified if it was accepted?
Answer: Once we receive your submission to the A&R Wanted List, it is forwarded to the company/executive that requested the information. You will then be emailed their company name. At that time, it will be up to them to notify you DIRECTLY if they would like to use your material or sign you to a deal.

Question: Why doesn’t the A&R Wanted List name the companies asking for the listings?
Answer: Executives do not want to get overwhelmed with outside submissions, so they will not accept unsolicited material. Initially they prefer to remain anonymous. We act as a liaison between our members and our team of executives. After the member makes a submission to the A&R Wanted List, we send it directly to the listed company. Once we send it, you will be notified who it was sent to. If the executive likes what they hear, they will contact you directly.

Question: What does an A&R Executive do?
Answer: An A&R executive is the individual responsible for scouting and developing an artist. He/she is the link between the recording artist and the record label, generally to help with the artistic and commercial development of the label's artists.

Question: What does a Music Publisher do and how do I make money?
Answer: The primary job of the music publisher is to link up new songs by songwriters with suitable recording artists to record them, with the intent of creating a hit record and generating large numbers of sales and airplay. Promoting such songs, supervising the collection and payment of publishing royalties for sales to their writers, placing writers' songs in other media such as movie soundtracks and commercials, and handling copyright registration and "ownership" matters for published songs, are among other jobs handled by a music publisher. Music print publishers also supervise the issue of songbooks and sheet music by their artists. Traditionally, Music Publishing royalties are split fifty/fifty, with half going to the publisher (as payment for their services) and the rest going to the songwriter(s). Music Publishers also establish communication between the production/distribution entities and the performing rights groups, such as ASCAP, SESAC and BMI in the United States, to ensure that the proper rights are negotiated and distributed.

Question: What are TV and Movie Music Supervisors?
Answer: The title of Music Supervisor is used by many media companies including film studios, TV networks, ad agencies, and a wide range of other media producers. The Music Supervisor is primarily responsible for selecting and licensing music for all film, TV and new media productions.

Question: What does a Performance Rights Organizations do?
Answer: A performing rights organization's (PRO) function is collecting performing rights royalties on behalf of its members, composers and music publishers. The PRO then distributes these royalties to its members, minus the PRO's administration costs. Some examples of royalties that are paid to a PRO’s members include: performance of a song or composition either live, recorded or broadcasted, a live performance by any musician through a recording on physical media, performance through the playing of recorded music, music performed through the internet (digital transmissions) and music appearing in commercial mediums such as TV, movies and commercials. Popular examples of PRO’s include ASCAP, BMI and SESAC.

Question: Is there a submission fee?
Answer: NO. Unlike other companies, our membership is all-inclusive.

Question: Do I need to supply more than 1 copy of my material if I am submitting to more than one member opportunity?
Answer: If you are mailing (via postal service) the same piece(s) of music to be used for different opportunities, then you DO NOT have to supply us with more than one copy of your music. We keep your music on file and will refer back to what was mailed, as you submit various opportunities. If you are mailing (via postal service) different music for different opportunities, then yes, you would have to supply us with the new music per opportunity. If you are emailing an MP3, it is just best to always submit the MP3 along with what we are requesting for each opportunity regardless if it is the same music or not.
